Serological Albumin

Although incomplete antibodies have the ability to combine with their specific antigens during the first stage of agglutination, they will not exhibit visible agglutination without the use of special techniques. The second stage of agglutination in some of these antibodies can only be completed with the addition of serological albumin to the cell suspension.

The Biorex Diagnostics Serological Albumin 22% and 30% are prepared from bovine serum albumin and buffered saline. No artificial avidity enhancers or high molecular weight agglutination potentiators are added to the serological albumin solution. This reagent is supplied ready for use and does not require any further dilution or addition.

Product Description

The Biorex Diagnostics Serological Albumin is a ready-to-use reagent formulated to enhance red blood cell agglutination, particularly in cases involving weak or incomplete antibodies. By improving the visibility of antigen–antibody reactions, this reagent increases test sensitivity and supports accurate results in blood grouping, antibody screening, and crossmatching procedures. Its physiologically compatible formulation eliminates the need for artificial enhancers, providing reliable performance in clinical and laboratory settings.

This test is designed to streamline immunohaematology workflows. The ready-to-use format reduces preparation time, minimizes handling errors, and simplifies laboratory procedures. By facilitating detectable agglutination even with low-titre antibodies, it ensures that subtle or weak reactions are not missed, improving the accuracy of antibody identification and transfusion compatibility testing. This is particularly important in blood banks, hospitals, and diagnostic laboratories, where reliable detection of weak antigen–antibody interactions is critical for patient safety.

Key Features

  • Enhances agglutination – facilitates visible clumping with weak or incomplete antibodies
  • Improves test sensitivity – increases detection of low-titre or weakly reactive antibodies
  • Ready-to-use formulation – eliminates dilution, simplifies workflow, and reduces errors
  • Physiological compatibility – contains no artificial avidity enhancers or high molecular weight potentiators
  • Versatile application – suitable for blood grouping, antibody screening, and crossmatching

Benefits
Use of this test enables improved detection of weak antigen–antibody reactions, enhancing the accuracy and reproducibility of laboratory results. Its physiologically compatible, ready-to-use formulation allows for safer and more efficient blood testing, reducing operational burden and the risk of errors. This reagent supports safe transfusion practices by ensuring reliable compatibility testing and antibody identification.

Whether for routine immunohaematology testing, blood bank operations, or hospital laboratory workflows, the Biorex Albumin reagent provides a dependable, efficient, and high-performance solution that strengthens laboratory quality assurance and enhances patient safety.
