The Biorex Diagnostics Low Ionic Strength Solution (LISS) is a ready-to-use reagent designed to enhance the sensitivity and speed of antigen–antibody reactions in immunohaematology testing. By reducing the ionic strength of the test environment, LISS facilitates more efficient binding between red blood cell antigens and their corresponding antibodies, ensuring accurate and reliable blood grouping, crossmatching, and antibody screening.

In conventional serological testing, antigen–antibody interactions can be slow or weak, sometimes leading to false-negative results or decreased detection of clinically significant antibodies. The Biorex LISS overcomes this limitation by increasing electrostatic attraction between red blood cells and antibodies. This enables rapid detection of low-titre or weakly reactive antibodies, improving diagnostic confidence while reducing incubation times and increasing laboratory efficiency.
