Anti-KPa & KPb

Anti-Kpa and Anti-Kpb are antibodies directed to antigens in the Kell blood group system. The Kpand Kpb antigens were reported in 1957 and 1958 respectively and have been implemented in immediate and delayed Haemolytic Transfusion reactions and Haemolytic Disease in the new born. Indirect agglutination of red cells that carry these antigens occur in the antiglobulin phase.  In the absence of these antigens, no indirect agglutination is generally observed.

The Biorex Diagnostics Anti-Kpa and Anti-Kpb reagent consists of human serum diluted in sodium chloride solution containing macromolecular potentiators and bovine albumin. The reagent requires no further dilution or addition for recommended techniques.

Product Description

The Biorex Diagnostics Anti-KPa and Anti-KPb reagents are ready-to-use solutions for the accurate detection of the KPa and KPb antigens within the Kell blood group system. These minor but clinically significant antigens can cause haemolytic transfusion reactions (HTRs) and haemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN), making reliable typing essential for transfusion safety and antenatal screening.

Key Features
• Accurate antigen detection – identifies KPa-positive and KPb-positive red cells
• Clinically significant – supports prevention of HTRs and HDN
• Indirect antiglobulin phase – sensitive detection of antigen expression
• Ready-to-use reagent – stable solution, no dilution required
• High-quality formulation – human serum with bovine albumin and macromolecular potentiators for reproducible results

Benefits
Routine use of Anti-KPa and Anti-KPb reagents enables reliable detection of minor Kell antigens, enhancing transfusion safety, antenatal monitoring, and extended phenotyping. Their ready-to-use format, high sensitivity, and consistent performance streamline laboratory workflows while ensuring accurate identification of clinically relevant antigens in donors and patients.
