Anti-CDE

Since the description of the RhD antigen by Levine and Stetson in 1939, more than 40 other Rh antigen complexes have been identified. With the exception of the C, c, E and e and perhaps Cw, few of these antigens or their corresponding antibodies are controlled by a series of closely linked loci on chromosome 1, the genetic contribution from each parent being inherited as a haplotype e.g. Cde, cDE etc. Used separately, anti-Rh blood grouping reagents will indicate whether an individual expresses the corresponding antigen – an essential procedure in the determination of antibody specificity and selection of blood for transfusion of patients with Rh antibodies.

The Biorex Diagnostics Anti-C reagent is for the in vitro detection and identification of the human C blood group antigen by direct agglutination.

Product Description

The Biorex Diagnostics Anti-CDE reagent is a ready-to-use solution designed for the simultaneous detection of C, D, and E antigens within the Rh blood group system. This multi-antigen capability allows laboratories to perform comprehensive Rh phenotyping in a single test, saving time while maintaining accuracy. Reliable detection of these clinically significant antigens is essential for safe transfusions, extended Rh typing, antibody investigations, and the prevention of haemolytic transfusion reactions (HTRs) and haemolytic disease of the foetus and newborn (HDFN).

Key Features

  • Multi-antigen detection – accurately identifies C, D, and E antigens on red blood cells in a single procedure
  • Direct agglutination method – provides clear, reproducible, and interpretable results for routine clinical use
  • Supports transfusion safety – ensures correct donor–recipient matching and minimizes risk of alloimmunisation
  • Ready-to-use format – stable, pre-prepared solution eliminates the need for dilution or additional preparation, reducing laboratory errors
  • High sensitivity and specificity – ensures accurate identification of clinically significant Rh antigens

Benefits
Use of the Anti-CDE reagent streamlines Rh typing in clinical laboratories and blood banks by enabling simultaneous detection of three key Rh antigens, reducing processing time and improving workflow efficiency. Its high-quality, monoclonal formulation ensures reproducible results, supporting accurate antibody screening and extended phenotyping panels. Routine application of this reagent improves transfusion safety by identifying donor and patient red cell antigen profiles, preventing incompatible transfusions, and reducing the risk of HTRs.

The ready-to-use design minimizes handling errors and preparation time, making it ideal for high-throughput laboratories, hospital transfusion services, and reference immunohaematology facilities. Incorporating the Anti-CDE reagent into standard protocols enhances the accuracy of complex antibody investigations, ensures confident clinical decision-making, and promotes safe and effective patient care.

Its combination of efficiency, reliability, and comprehensive antigen detection makes the Biorex Anti-CDE reagent an indispensable tool for modern immunohaematology, ensuring accurate Rh phenotyping, patient safety, and streamlined laboratory operations.
