Iron

Most of the iron in the body is bound in haemoglobin molecules in the red blood cells. About 4% of iron is bound in myoglobin molecules and 30% of iron in the body is stored as ferritin or hemosiderin in the spleen, bone marrow and the liver. Transferrin produced in the liver binds one or two iron ions and is used to move these stores of iron to areas where it might be required. Iron determination is performed to diagnose conditions such as microcytic anaemia, macrocytic anaemia, folic acid deficiency and drug induced metabolic disorders.

Biorex Diagnostics manufactures Iron reagents designed for Hitachi 917, Olympus AU600/400/640/2700 and CA 180/280/400 Furuno/Daytona systems.

Product Description

The Biorex Diagnostics Iron Assay is an in vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative determination of iron in human serum and plasma. Iron is a vital trace element essential for oxygen transport, cellular respiration, enzymatic reactions, and overall metabolic function, with the majority incorporated into hemoglobin and stored in ferritin or myoglobin.

Key Features
• Quantitative measurement of iron in serum and plasma
• Supports evaluation of iron deficiency, iron overload, anemia, and hematologic disorders
• Colorimetric or spectrophotometric method ensures accurate, reliable, and reproducible results
• Ready-to-use reagents simplify workflow and reduce preparation errors
• Compatible with Hitachi 917, Olympus AU600/400/640/2700, and CA 180/280/400 Furuno/Daytona systems

Benefits
The Biorex Iron Assay provides precise, reproducible, and clinically meaningful measurements. Its accuracy, reliability, and automated system compatibility make it indispensable for assessing iron status, monitoring therapeutic interventions, and supporting research in hematology and metabolic health.
